Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur gave this information at a press conference today. PC Anurag Thakur told that in view of the festive season, it has been decided to continue the Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana for three months. Now people will continue to get free food grains every month till December 2022.
This decision of the central government is great news for 80 crore people of the country. It is known that during the Corona period, the government had started the free ration scheme for 80 crore poor people of the country. Which is being extended by three months even after the end of the Corona period. Under this scheme, 80 crore poor people of the country get wheat and rice free of cost every month.
In the PC held after the cabinet meeting, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that the Food Ministry had written a letter to the Central Government, in which it was asked to extend the scheme by 3 months. It is known that the government has to spend $ 18 billion every year to run this scheme.
It may be mentioned that under the Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, 5 kg of wheat or rice and one kg of a whole gram are given free of cost to every person. This is in addition to the subsidized ration already provided under the National Food Security Act. This scheme was started during the Corona period.
Apart from this, the Modi cabinet has decided to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) by 4 percent for central government employees and pensioners. Apart from this, information was also given about the renovation of three railway stations. New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus – 10 thousand crore rupees will be spent on the redevelopment of these three stations.
