Rahul Gandhi :  Former Congress National President Rahul Gandhi paid floral tributes at the Rajiv Gandhi memorial of his father and former Prime Minister of the country Rajiv Gandhi in Sriperumbudur, before the start of the Bharat Jodo Yatra on 7 September. On this occasion, Rahul Gandhi said, "I have lost my father in the politics of hatred and division. I will not lose even my beloved country in this."
He said that love will win over hate. Hope will defeat fear. Together we will overcome this.

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh wrote in a tweet, "7th September 2022.  A day when the country's oldest political party will start the longest padyatra ever.  Today is a day of quiet contemplation and renewed resolve.  This is a turning point in Indian politics.  Symbolizes a new beginning."

He told that Rahul Gandhi has said that this journey is like austerity for me.  This 3,570 km Bharat Jodi Yatra will pass through 12 states, in which 118 Congress workers are involved.

On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi will stay in a container due to security reasons.  The journey will be of 3570 km in 150 days.  During this time full-time passengers will eat on the road.  Laundry services will be provided to them.  Please tell that the passengers will walk for 6 to 7 hours daily.  The yatra will run in two batches.  While one batch will run from 7 am to 10.30 am, the second batch will run from 3.30 am to 6.30 pm.  The plan is to walk around 22 to 23 kms daily in the journey.

Congress leader of Rajasthan Vijender Singh Mahlawat is the oldest (58) in the journey.  The youngest (25) members are Azam Jombla and Bem Bai.  Both of them are from Arunachal Pradesh.  Kanhaiya Kumar, Pawan Khera are also part of Rahul Gandhi's travel team.  The party says that about 30 per cent of the Bharat Jodo Yatras are women.

Bharat Jodo Yatra will pass through 20 major places. Which includes Kanyakumari, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Nilambur, Mysore, Bellary, Raichur, Vikarabad, Nanded, Jalgaon Jamod, Indore, Kota, Dausa, Alwar, Bulandshahr, Delhi, Ambala, Pathankot, Jammu, Srinagar.
