Delhi's air quality deteriorated again, construction and demolition works banned

Construction and demolition activities have been banned due to deteriorating air quality again in the country's national capital Delhi. The Air Quality Management Commission has taken this decision today i.e. on December 4 after the AQI went into the severe category. According to media reports, Delhi's 24-hour average air quality index stood at 407 at 4 pm on Sunday. According to the news agency PTI, the Delhi administration has ordered a halt to all construction and demolition work until further instructions.

Earlier last month too, all construction and demolition works were banned in Delhi-NCR after the air quality deteriorated. The ban was lifted a few days later after the air quality improved.

The India Meteorological Department has said that "The air quality in the national capital is in the severe category with an air quality index of around 400, but the air quality of the national capital is likely to improve from today evening. Actually between 201 and 300. An AQI is considered 'poor', between 301 and 400 'very poor' and between 401 and 500 'severe'.

According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research, the Air Quality Index (AQI) 335 was recorded on Friday morning. On the other hand, Delhi AQI 323 was recorded on Saturday. The residents of Delhi came under the grip of smog on Saturday itself. On the other hand, for the 5th day today, Delhi's air remains in the 'very poor' category. Along with Delhi, the air quality in the surrounding areas has also reached the 'very poor' category.
