BJP's big bet before Karnataka elections, 4% Muslim reservation abolished

This year, assembly elections are going to be held in many states in the country. These include Karnataka, where assembly elections are going to be held in May. The Legislative Assembly of Karnataka is important in many ways. If BJP will try to retain power in the state, then Congress will try to return to power again. The period of political decisions also started before the elections. Recently, before the assembly elections, BJP played a big bet in Karnataka. The Basavaraj Bommai government of BJP in Karnataka has recently taken a major decision on Muslim reservations in the state.
Before the assembly elections, the BJP government has taken a big decision in Karnataka. Till now Muslims used to get 4% reservations in the state. Now the state government has decided to close it. The government has now decided to include Muslims in the Economically Weaker Section (EWS). Muslims have now been excluded from the category of minority communities.
EWS gets 10% reservation in the state, which all the people of all communities coming under EWS will get equally.
In Karnataka, it has now been decided to divide it by abolishing the 4% reservation given to Muslims. But it will not be available to Muslims. The government has decided to give 2-2% additional reservation from 4% to Vokkaliga and Lingayat communities.
Now the reservation for the Vokkaliga community will increase from 4% to 6% and the reservation for the Lingayat community will increase from 5% to 7%. This information was given by Chief Minister Bommai on the evening of Friday, March 24.
Earlier in Karnataka total reservation was given at 50%, which has now been increased to 56%. Now there will be 17% reservation for Scheduled Castes, 7% reservation for Scheduled Tribes and 32% reservation for Other Backward Classes and minority communities.
Increasing reservations for Vokkaliga and Lingayat communities by abolishing Muslim reservations may give an advantage to BJP in the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections. Both communities are politically dominant in the state. In such a situation, by increasing their reservation, BJP's vote bank will increase and it will also benefit in Karnataka assembly elections.
