Lok Sabha membership of Lakshadweep MP Mohammed Faizal, convicted of murderous attack on Congress leader, cancelled

The Kavaratti Court convicted Mohammad Faizal for the murderous attack on the Congress leader and sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment. After this, the Lok Sabha Secretariat issued a notification cancelling the Lok Sabha membership of PP Mohammed Faizal from the date of sentencing.

Nationalist Congress Party's Lok Sabha MP from Lakshadweep, Mohammad Faizal, has been disqualified from the Lok Sabha. He has been disqualified as a member of the Lok Sabha. The court convicted Faizal in an attempt to murder the case of a Congress leader. And was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for this crime. After this, he has been disqualified from membership in the Lok Sabha under the provisions of Article 102 (1) (e) of the Constitution of India and Section 8 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. The court sentenced MP Mohammad Faizal on January 11. So the date of sentencing Mohammad Faizal is disqualified from membership of the Lok Sabha.
In a notification issued on Friday regarding his disqualification, the Lok Sabha Secretariat said that Mohd. Faizal P.P. is disqualified from membership in the Lok Sabha under the provisions of Article 102 (1) (e) of the Constitution of India and Section 8 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. Mohammad Faizal will cease to be a member of the Lok Sabha from January 11.
On January 11, the Court of District and Sessions Judge, Kavaratti, convicted Mohammed Faizal and three others in the attempt to murder case. and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. With this, his bail was cancelled. Mohammad Faizal was sent to the Kannur Central Jail in Kerala after being sentenced where he is lodged.
Mohammad Faizal has moved the Kerala High Court against the order of the District and Sessions Court. The Kerala High Court has refused to stay the lower court's decision.
NCP MP Mohd. Faizal was accused of the murderous attack on Congress leader Mohammad Saliya, son-in-law of former Union Minister PM Sayeed. This case was registered in the year 2009. The Congress leader was seriously injured in the attack. A total of 32 people were charge-sheeted in this case.
