Team India is constantly preparing for the T20 World Cup. Team India has to play its first match against Pakistan on 23 October at Melbourne Cricket Ground. In the midst of all this, the biggest blow to India was Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to injury. Now Mohammad Shami has been kept in the place of Jasprit Bumrah in the T20 World Cup. An official announcement has also been made by the BCCI regarding this. A statement issued by Jay Shah read that the All India Senior Selection Committee has named Mohammed Shami as the replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in India's ICC Men's T20 World Cup squad.

It is further reported that Shami has reached Australia and will join the team in Brisbane before the practice matches. With that said, Mohammad Siraj and Shardul Thakur have been named as backups and will travel to Australia shortly. Apart from this, Deepak Chahar was also to join the team as a standby player for the T20 World Cup. However, he has been ruled out due to injury. Because of this, Mohammad Siraj and Shardul Thakur have been kept on standby. India had the last time till October 15 to nominate someone in place of Jasprit Bumrah. India was waiting for the final medical report of Jasprit Bumrah.
