Congress MP Syed Nasir Hussain demanded a discussion on the issue of unemployment under Rule 267 today (on December 9). He has written a letter to Rajya Sabha President Jagdeep Dhankhar about this. In his letter, under Rule 267, he demanded a discussion in the House to know the government's stand on rising unemployment.

The unemployment rate reached 8% in November

It is written in the letter that unemployment has increased in the country in the last few years. According to the recently released data, the unemployment rate reached a three-month high of 8 percent in November. The urban unemployment rate rose to 8.96% in November from 7.21% in the previous month. Whereas, the rural unemployment rate decreased from 8.04% to 7.55%.

'Government has no plan'

He wrote that the country's unemployment rate was 7.83% in April, 7.14% in May, 7.83% in June, 6.83% in July, 8.28% in August, 6.43% in September, 7.77% in October, and 8.00% in November. He said that these figures show that the government does not have any plan related to employment. He said that out of 40.35 lakh government jobs in central government departments, 9.79 lakh posts are still vacant.

Haryana is number 1 in the unemployment rate

Let us tell you that according to the recently released data by the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), Haryana is at the top when it comes to the states with the highest unemployment rate. Haryana's unemployment rate in November is 30.6 percent. After this Rajasthan has 24.5 percent. Then the number is of Jammu and Kashmir, where the unemployment rate is 23.9 percent. The unemployment rate in Bihar is 17.3 percent. According to the list, the unemployment rate in Uttar Pradesh is 4.1 percent.

The lowest unemployment rate in Chandigarh

On the other hand, the lowest unemployment rate is 0.1 percent in Chandigarh, 1.2 percent in Uttarakhand, 1.6 percent in Odisha, and 1.8 percent in Karnataka. In terms of the unemployment rate, Himachal Pradesh has reached 8.1 percent, while Delhi has 12.7 percent. According to CMIE, the urban unemployment rate reached 8.96 percent in November 2022. At the same time, it has decreased to 7.55 percent in the villages.
