Cyber attacks increased manifold in five years: more than 14 lakh incidents last year, 12.67 lakh cases till November this year

In the last few years, there has been a steady increase in the number of cyber attacks in India. Last year, more than 14 lakh incidents of cyber attacks were reported in the country. Responding to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar presented the figures for such incidents.

According to statistics, in 2017, 41,378 incidents of cyber attacks were reported from April to December. After this, it increased to 2,08,456 in 2018, 3,94,499 in 2019, 11,58,208 in 2020 and 14,02,809 in 2021. The total number tracked and reported by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) till November this year is 12,67,564.

In response to another question, Information Technology and Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that work is going on at a multidimensional level to ensure cyber security. He said that a large number of cyber attacks take place in the country every day, but most are stopped.

Ashwini Vaishnav told that several steps have been taken to prevent cyber attacks. Overall work is going on in the digital economy regarding the kind of threats posed by state actors and non-state actors in the digital economy.

There was a conspiracy of China behind hacking the servers of Delhi AIIMS. A senior official of the Union Health Ministry made this disclosure. He told that hackers had hacked five out of 100 servers. Data has been extracted from these five servers.
