The first edition of the Naval Commanders' Conference this year begins today. This is the first time that this meeting of commanders is being held in the middle of the sea. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will address the first edition of the Naval Commanders' Conference, starting today. This conference will run for five days.

At this conference, the Naval Commanders will interact with senior government officials. The special feature of this year's conference is that its first phase is being held at sea and for the first time it will be hosted by India's first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will address the Naval Commanders at INS Vikrant on the inaugural occasion of the conference.

In this conference, the Naval Commanders will discuss important security issues at the military-strategic level. In addition, the conference also provides an opportunity for naval commanders to interact with senior government officials. The operations, logistics, training, human resources and future plans undertaken during the last six months will be discussed at the conference.

The Navy said a day earlier i.e. on Sunday that the plans for important activities and initiatives of the Navy will also be discussed by the top officials of the Navy. An update on the Agneepath scheme for recruitment of sailors in the Navy will also be held in the meeting, the statement said. The first batch of Agniveers, including the first batch of women Agniveers, will complete their training at INS Chilka by the end of March.
