Delhi-NCR climate turns toxic again, third phase of Grape implemented

Once again the air in the country's capital Delhi has reached critical condition. The air that people are breathing has become poisonous. Re-construction and demolition activities have been put on hold due to poor air quality in Delhi. The Air Quality Management Commission (AQMC) has directed the immediate implementation of the third phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR. This decision was taken in the meeting of the sub-committee and all the states of NCR have been asked to implement it. The AQI once again crossed 400 in Delhi on Sunday.

As air pollution in the capital picked up the pace once again, the Centre's Air Quality Commission on Sunday directed authorities in Delhi to stop non-essential construction work under the third phase of the Phased Action Action Plan (GRAP). After this, after a slight improvement in air quality, that restriction was withdrawn but now the same situation is being seen again due to which the restrictions of Stage 3 have been implemented once again.

According to the data regarding the air quality of Delhi, the CPCB has told that in many areas of Delhi, the AQI has reached the critical category. Due to this the air that people breathe has become poisonous. AQI 429 was recorded in the Anand Vihar area. Earlier, the city's 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) on Saturday was 370, which is considered very poor.
