AT Ramaswamy joined the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Anurag Thakur, BJP National General Secretaries Dushyant Gautam and Nalin Kohli at the BJP National Headquarters in New Delhi. On the other hand, BJP MLA from Kudaligi assembly in Ballari district of Karnataka, NY Gopalakrishna resigned from his post and is likely to join Congress. Even before this, two MLCs of the BJP had resigned. Both have joined Congress. There is a discussion about the ticket being cut behind this uproar among the leaders before the election.

Inducting a JDS MLA into the BJP in Delhi on Saturday, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said welcoming four-time MLA AT Ramaswamy to the BJP, claiming that a Vokkalinga community leader like him joining the BJP BJP will get strength in Karnataka and the party will be stronger.

After joining BJP, Ramaswamy said I am really impressed with the way BJP is working. I am a victim of money power because I always used to talk about irregularities and corruption. I am joining BJP without any conditions. I have not even talked about MLA tickets. I just want an opportunity to serve the people.

AT Ramaswamy is the JDS MLA from Arkalguda in Karnataka, though he tendered his resignation from the Legislative Assembly on Friday, a day before joining the BJP. Polling for the Legislative Assembly in Karnataka is to be held on May 10 and its results will be out on May 13. This time BJP is claiming to form the government by getting a full majority on its own. In such a situation, it is believed that in the coming days, many other veteran leaders of Karnataka may also join BJP.

BJP MLA from Kudaligi Assembly in Karnataka's Ballari district, NY Gopalakrishna resigned from his post and is likely to join Congress as he is expected to field a ticket from Molakalmuru constituency in Chitradurga district. The decision to resign of four-time MLA Gopalkrishna has created a stir among the BJP workers. He had recently met Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar.
