North India gets relief from cold wave: snowfall on mountains, chances of rain

Weather Update: There was some respite from the cold wave on Thursday in most parts of North India including the capital Delhi. There is no forecast of severe cold for the next five days. According to the Meteorological Department, the outbreak of cold wave continued in South Haryana, East Rajasthan, the Northern part of Madhya Pradesh and some areas of Bihar.

People have heaved a sigh of relief due to the reduction in the cold wave in North India including Delhi-NCR. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, a reduction in the cold is expected for a few days. Along with this, an increase of two to four degrees in the minimum temperature has been predicted in the next 24 hours. Relief from the cold wave and severe cold has started from Thursday. The day temperature was recorded as three degrees above normal. According to the Meteorological Department, the outbreak of cold wave continued in South Haryana, East Rajasthan, the Northern part of Madhya Pradesh and some areas of Bihar. The cold wave is going on in Rajasthan since this morning.

According to the Meteorological Department, cold wave to severe cold wave conditions prevailed in northern parts of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Under the influence of fresh Western Disturbance, the cold wave abated in most parts of these areas. There are no cold wave conditions over North India during the next five days, the statement said.

Another active Western Disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from January 20 night to January 26 and the plains of northwest India from January 23 to January 25. The department said that under its influence, light to moderate rain and snowfall is likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on January 20 to 22. Rain and snowfall are expected to increase between January 23 and January 26.

Due to the activation of Western Disturbance, there is a possibility of rain in the plains. Light rain has been forecast in some areas of Punjab on January 22, while light to moderate rain has been predicted on January 23. At the same time, there is a possibility of rain on 24 and 25 January. It may rain in Delhi, Chandigarh and Haryana on January 22. In some areas of western UP, it will rain on January 23, while on January 24, it will rain in most areas.
