the common man got relief
Crude oil remains volatile after OPEC countries announced a cut in the production of crude. Oil companies were earlier expected to give relief of 40 paise per liter in oil from November 1. But the companies did not do this. However, the common man has got relief due to no change in the price of petrol and diesel in the domestic market for more than five months.

Petrol became cheaper due to a reduction in excise duty
The last change in the price of petrol and diesel was on 22 May. This is the first time that the rates of petrol and diesel have remained stable for more than five months. Excise duty was reduced by the government on 22 May. Petrol and diesel became cheaper across the country due to the excise reduction. After this, VAT on oil was reduced in Maharashtra, due to which the price came down.
