Chief Justice of the Supreme Court DY Chandrachud is often in headlines for his outspoken opinions and comments. Today, during the hearing of a PIL, he again made such remarks that the discussion about his statement started. The CJI said during the hearing of a PLI that we are here to perform our duty, not to please anyone. The CJI made this comment on a petition filed regarding the age of marriage of men and women. In fact, advocate Ashwin Upadhyay has filed a petition in the Supreme Court. In this PIL, he has demanded that the age limit for marriage of men and women should be the same. The CJI made this comment during the hearing on the same petition on Monday.

During the hearing, the CJI was irked by a plea by petitioner Ashwin Upadhyay. After which he said what was the point of transferring it to the Supreme Court. Then the CJI made a strong comment on Ashwin Upadhyay saying that we are not here to listen to your opinion. Fortunately, our legitimacy doesn't depend on how you feel about us. We don't want your unnecessary comments on how we feel about you.

In this statement, the CJI further said that we have come here to perform our constitutional duty. not to please you. Nor are we here to please any politics. The CJI also taught the petitioner the lesson of Vakalat Dharma. Said you are a member of the Bar Council, argue in front of us.

At the end of the hearing of the case, the CJI said that it is a matter of Parliament. Parliament is also the guardian of the constitution. So don't make fun of Article 32. Some matters are reserved for the Parliament. The CJI also said that we cannot make laws here. The power to make laws rests with the Parliament. During this remark of the CJI, the atmosphere in the courtroom got heated for a while. After a while everything became normal.
