Air India Express flight from Abu Dhabi to Calicut caught fire in one of the engines during the flight. Immediately after this, the flight safely landed back in Abu Dhabi. The plane landed safely and all passengers are safe. The Air India flight took off at 9.59 pm (3:29 am IST) from Abu Dhabi and made an emergency landing 45 minutes later. The aircraft reached a maximum altitude of over 1000 feet when the engine fire occurred.

The pilot of Air India Express flight IX348 saw the flames and flew back to Abu Dhabi. A total of 184 passengers were on board the Air India Express flight when one of the engines developed a technical snag and caught fire. The aircraft landed safely and all passengers were safe.

The DGCA has confirmed the incident and issued a statement saying that Air India Express's B737-800 VT-AYC operating flight IX 348 (Abu Dhabi-Calicut) caught fire in engine number one during takeoff. The aircraft was at an altitude of about 1000 feet at the time of the fire. After this, the aircraft safely landed in Abu Dhabi.
