Punjab Police is on alert] It is ready to prevent any untoward incident after the arrest of Amritpal Singh. Under this, the Punjab Police along with the CRPF jawans conducted a flag march across Punjab on Sunday.

After declaring Khalistan supporter and heir Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh a fugitive, the Punjab Police is desperately searching for him to arrest him. But the Punjab Police is on alert. He is all set to prevent any untoward incident after the arrest of Amritpal Singh. Under this, the Punjab Police along with the CRPF jawans conducted a flag march across Punjab on Sunday. Sources said that the Punjab Police is planning to register a case against Amritpal Singh under the provisions of the National Security Act (NSA). Simultaneously, in the interest of public safety, the Punjab government extended the suspension of SMS and mobile internet services, except voice calls, till Monday afternoon.

Amritsar Deputy Commissioner of Police Parminder Singh Bhandal said that the police have set up 100 nakas in Amritsar and the outskirts of the city to check vehicles. There is CRPF personnel along with the policemen at the posts. Flag marches are being conducted in towns and cities of all the districts. In view of apprehensions of a breach of peace, a large contingent of paramilitary force has been deployed outside Jallupur Khaira, the native village of Amritpal Singh in the Amritsar district.

Section 144 has been imposed in many districts of the state. The police have also increased security in the state. Along with this, all the vehicles are being checked at the Punjab-Haryana border.

Amritpal's father Tarsem Singh said that the police should have arrested Amritpal even before he left the house. We have no information about his whereabouts. They searched our residence for 3-4 hours but found nothing. He termed the police action as unfair and said that his son was weaning the youth away from drugs.

Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal said that six gunmen of Amritpal have been arrested. The search for Amritpal Singh is on and we hope to arrest him soon. A total of 78 people have been arrested so far. And further searches and raids are on.
