A stone quarry suddenly collapsed during mining in Mizoram. According to media reports, at least 8 people died in this accident and four people are buried under the debris. The incident took place in the Hanathiyal district of South Mizoram.

A major accident took place in the Hanthial district of Mizoram. A stone quarry collapsed on a hill slope in the Moudarh area of ​​the district on Monday. About 8 people died in this accident. At the same time, four people are still said to be buried under the debris. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the administration reached the spot and started rescue operations. Additional Deputy Commissioner Sajikpui of Hanthial district has given this information. Most of the labourers are being told from Bihar. The company is doing road construction work nearby for which it was collecting stones.

Giving details about the incident, Lalhariatpuia, Additional Secretary, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department, Mizoram, said that 15 people were present at the time of the mine collapse. According to media reports, at least 8 people died in this accident and four people are buried under the debris. Citing reports from the district, he said that the crude method of excavation used by the people could be the cause of the tragedy.

A rescue operation is going on to save the people buried in the debris. The accident took place in Moudarh village at around 2.40 pm. It is being told that the labourers of ABCI Infrastructure Private Limited were working in the mine at the time of the accident. District officials said a medical team is at the spot.

Local people say that the labourers were breaking stones in the mine when the loose soil above started sinking. After this, big pieces of stone started falling. The mine collapsed so fast that the workers did not get time to get out. As soon as the information was received, the local people also immediately reached out for help. However, removing so much debris is not an easy task.
