A major accident took place in the North American country of Mexico on the first day of the year. Mexican authorities said on Sunday that gunmen stormed a prison in the northern border city of Juarez. 14 people died in this accident and more than a dozen people were also injured. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital where they are undergoing treatment. During the firing, there was a stampede in the jail, taking advantage of this, 24 prisoners also escaped. It is not yet known who has carried out this attack. The police have started the investigation
One of the country's most notorious prisons came under a sudden attack by gunmen on New Year's Day. Even before the security personnel posted in the jail could understand anything, the gunmen entered the jail while firing bullets. 10 security personnel and 4 prisoners lost their lives in this attack. After the attack by the gunmen, a scuffle broke out between the prisoners, which further worsened the situation.
Taking advantage of the stampede in the jail after the firing, 24 prisoners also escaped. Before the attack, armed men reportedly fired at municipal police near the boulevard. After this chased a car and snatched it. All four people had come sitting in this car.
After the attack, the inmates in the jail clashed with each other. After this, there was an atmosphere of chaos. According to officials, 13 prisoners were injured in the clash. Notorious drug cartel criminals are also lodged in jail along with other inmates. They say that 4 people have been arrested, but at the moment it is difficult to tell whether they are prisoners or attackers.
The preliminary investigation found that the assailants arrived at the prison in armoured vehicles at around 7:00 a.m. local time and opened fire. This is not the first time that such a firing incident took place in the jail. Earlier in October 2022, gunmen attacked in southern Mexico. 18 people were killed in that attack.
