BJP is gearing up for the Karnataka assembly elections. Veteran BJP leaders are holding rallies in Karnataka one after the other. In this episode, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed an election rally in Belagavi. The Assam Chief Minister has once again reiterated his promise to close the madrassas during this period. He said that people want to study in schools and colleges. Along with this said that the people of Bangladesh come to the northeastern states and pose a threat to its civilization and culture.

At the BJP's Vijay Sankalp Yatra in Belagavi in the poll-bound Karnataka, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said people want to study in schools and colleges. Addressing a rally at Shivaji Maharaj Garden, he said that I have closed 600 madrassas and I will try to close all madrassas because we do not want madrassas. Assam CM said that we want schools, colleges and universities.

In 2020, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma brought a law in Assam to convert all madrassas run by the state government into schools. As per the data of January 2023, there are 3000 registered and unregistered madrassas in Assam. Regarding illegal immigrants, he claimed that Bangladeshi people come to Assam and become a threat to the culture and civilization.

Himanta Biswa has also attacked the Congress and the Left parties. He accused these parties of distorting the history of the country with pro-Mughal narratives. The Congress and the Left showed India's history as Babur, Aurangzeb and Shah Jahan. He said I want to tell you that the history of India is not about him (Mughals), but about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Guru Gobind Singh, and Swami Vivekananda.

Sarma had claimed last year that Assam had become a hotbed of 'jihadi activities'. Because five 'Jihadi' modules with links to terrorist organizations linked to Al Qaeda were busted in Bangladesh. He said that according to intelligence inputs, six ABT members from Bangladesh entered India illegally between 2016 and 2017. After this, he established terrorist modules and sleeper cells by motivating the local youth about the 'Jihadi' ideology.
