Indian High Commission tweeted information
The Indian High Commission said in a tweet, "The relationship of friendship and cooperation has been carried forward. The High Commissioner (Gopal Bagale) has formally supplied 21,000 tonnes of fertilizer to the people of Sri Lanka under India's special support.” Earlier last month, 44,000 tonnes were supplied. This supply was made by India in 2022 under total assistance of $ 4 billion.

Sri Lankan farmers will get help
The Indian High Commission said, “The fertilizer supply will boost food security and help Sri Lankan farmers. This step reflects the close ties with India and the mutual trust and goodwill between India and Sri Lanka.” India had May assured a supply of 65,000 tonnes of urea to Sri Lanka to avoid any disruption in the current agricultural season.

The great economic crisis in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is facing an unprecedented economic crisis, due to which there has been a severe shortage of fuel and other essential commodities. India is continuously helping its neighboring country and is helping its people by providing fuel, sometimes food products, and now fertilizers. The Sri Lankan government has been expressing its gratitude to the country from time to time.
