North India shivering due to severe cold, forecast of mercury falling up to 4 degrees in Delhi, cold wave alert issued

Weather Update: Due to fog and cloudy days, it is getting cold in North India including Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and UP-Bihar. According to IMD's forecast, the cold wave will continue in northwest India for the next three days.

The cold winds blowing from the Himalayas have increased the chill in the plains. Along with this, the entire North India including Delhi-UP is shivering due to severe cold. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the cold is expected to increase further. After a brief respite, the agony of winter has increased once again in North India as well as in Delhi. A yellow alert has been issued in Delhi-NCR given the winter and cold waves. Along with the cold, the torture of cold waves continues in UP. However, there is a possibility of a further increase in the cold in the coming days.

The torture of winter and cold waves continues in the capital of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, a cold day has been declared for two days. Along with this, Yellow Alert has been issued. The maximum temperature at many places in the national capital, including Lodhi Road, Palam, Jafarpur and Mayur Vihar, fell four notches below normal, the IMD said.

Shallow fog reduced visibility in some parts of the national capital during the morning, affecting vehicular movement. Dense fog covered parts of the Indo-Gangetic plains and central and eastern parts of the country, affecting rail and air traffic.

Dense fog will remain in the capital Delhi as well. Today (January 4) the minimum temperature is expected to be around 8 degree Celsius and the maximum temperature is expected to be around 17 degree Celsius. Along with this, light rain occurred in different areas of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya on Tuesday morning, due to which the cold has increased. According to the Meteorological Department, till January 5-7, the cold may increase further due to cold waves in some areas of Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh and northern parts.
