Infrastructure development is the driving force of the country's economy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday at a post-budget webinar on improving logistics efficiency with the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan. Now we have to improve our speed and get into top gear. Addressing the gathering, PM Modi expressed his happiness that, recognizing the importance of the webinar, hundreds of stakeholders participated along with more than 700 CEOs and MDs. PM Modi said that this year's budget will give new energy to the infrastructure. The PM Gati Shakti Master Plan is an important tool that integrates economic and infrastructural planning with development. To this PM Modi said, Gati Shakti National Master Plan is going to change the face of India's infrastructure and its multimodal logistics. PM Modi remarked infrastructure has an important role in the sustainable development of any country along with development keeping in mind future needs.

PM Modi underlined that those who have knowledge of history related to infrastructure are well aware of this fact. He cited the construction of Uttarapatha by Chandragupta Maurya, which was furthered by Ashoka and later upgraded by Sher Shah Suri. Prime Minister Modi said that it was the British who made it GT Road. The importance of highways has been recognized in India for centuries.

Referring to riverfronts and waterways, PM Modi cited the example of the Ghats of Banaras, which were directly connected to Kolkata through waterways. He also cited the example of the 2000-year-old Kallanai Dam in Tamil Nadu which is still operational.

PM Modi pointed out that India's capex has increased 5 times as compared to 2013-14 and the government is moving forward with a target of investing Rs 110 lakh crore under the National Infrastructure Pipeline. It is a time of new responsibilities, new possibilities and bold decisions for every stakeholder.

PM Modi said that the results of PM Gati Shakti Master Plan are visible. We have identified the gaps which were affecting the logistics efficiency. That is why in this year's budget, 100, important projects have been given priority and Rs 75,000 crore has been allocated.
