Due to the snowfall in the hilly areas, it has now started getting cold in the plains. The winter season continues in North India including the country's capital Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and UP-Bihar. For the past few days, normal life is being affected a lot due to cold waves and fog. However, there has been a slight respite from the cold in Delhi and surrounding areas. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of increasing cold again from the first day of the new year. The cold wave is expected to prevail on January 2 and 3.

According to the Meteorological Department, there will be relief from dense fog and cold waves in North West India for the next 48 hours. Dense fog and cold waves will once again be seen in North West India from 31st December. In the morning, a thick layer of fog has spread in many states. Many accidents are also happening due to low visibility. In many cities, people have even lost their lives in accidents. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of dense fog in 31 districts of Uttar Pradesh till January 2.

According to the India Meteorological Department, cold will return again on December 31 in Punjab and Haryana. The second round of cold waves will start in both states before the new year. According to the Meteorological Department, light rain may occur in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, and Tarn Taran due to the activation of Western Disturbance. After this, from December 31, the cold wave will intensify in Punjab and there will be dense fog and the weather will remain like this till January 3.

According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of the cold waves is being seen in many states of North India. Dense fog was observed in parts of Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and Delhi today along with cold. Apart from this, the dense fog would also be seen over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur. At the same time, the effect of cold waves is being seen in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and UP-Bihar.

The Meteorological Department has predicted scattered snowfall in the Western Himalayan region under the influence of Western Disturbance. The tourist destination Pahalgam has received its first snowfall of the season. There will be snowfall in the higher reaches of the valley on the 29th and 30th. There are chances of scattered rain and snowfall in the Western Himalayan region.
