Goods and toys worth crores seized from Mundra Port in Gujarat before the assembly elections

Before the assembly elections, goods and toys worth crores of rupees have been seized from Mundra Port in Gujarat, about which the Election Commission itself has given information. Apart from this, goods worth crores of rupees have been recovered from different places in Himachal as well as Gujarat.

The seizure of cash, liquor, drugs and other valuables has reached a record level ahead of the Gujarat Assembly elections. Within a few days of the announcement of the Gujarat Assembly elections, Rs 71.88 crore has been seized. At the same time, during the 2017 assembly elections, during the entire period of the model code of conduct, Rs 27.21 crore was seized. Voting has not even taken place this year, but goods worth Rs 44.67 crore have been seized as compared to the last assembly elections.

Along with this, after the announcement of the Gujarat assembly elections, the police seized about 1.10 lakh litres of liquor worth Rs 3.86 crore from the state. At the same time, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has seized goods and toys worth Rs 64 crore from Mundra Port, which were brought by smuggling. Two people have also been arrested in this case, in which one is said to be its mastermind.

The confiscation of free gifts has increased five-fold in Himachal Pradesh ahead of Saturday's assembly elections, compared to the 2017 assembly polls, the Election Commission said. According to the Election Commission, officials from Himachal Pradesh have seized gifts worth Rs 50.28 crore, of which Rs 17.18 crore has been seized in cash. Along with this, liquor worth 9.72 lakh litres, and medicines worth Rs 1.20 crore have been seized.

The Election Commission said that gifts worth Rs 71.88 crore have been seized from Gujarat, including Rs 66 lakh in cash. Along with this, the Election Commission said that 69 observers have been deployed to curb money power in the assembly elections.
