Responding to a question in writing, Muraleedharan said that "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made 21 foreign trips since the year 2019, on which more than Rs 22.76 crore has been spent. Said that since the year 2019, the President has travelled to 8 countries, on which more than Rs 6.24 crore has been spent.

Seven out of 8 visits by the President were made by former President Ram Nath Kovind, while the current President Draupadi Murmu visited the UK in September last year. In the same period, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar made 86 foreign visits.

Earlier, the news agency quoted sources as saying that US President Joe Biden has invited Prime Minister Modi for a state visit this summer, which has been accepted in principle by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
