Mohammad Shahabuddin Chuppu has been elected as the next and new President of Bangladesh. Presently Mohammad Abdul Hamid is the President of Bangladesh and his term is going to end on 23rd April this year. Hamid is the longest-serving President in the history of Bangladesh. Chuppu will take charge of the post after Hamid steps down from the presidency. Chuppu has also been a freedom fighter and a judge earlier.

Shahabuddin Chuppu will be the 22nd President of Bangladesh. Bangladesh's Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal announced this on Tuesday, February 14. Earlier, Chuppu had filed his nomination for the post of President of the country on Sunday itself. After examining his nomination papers and accompanying documents, Qazi Habibul Awal today announced Chuppu as the next President of Bangladesh.

Before announcing Shahabuddin Chuppu as the next President of the country, a gazette was issued by the Election Commission of Bangladesh in this regard. With the release of this gazette, the decision of Chuppu to become the President was sealed.

Chuppu is a member of the Awami League party in Bangladesh. His party has 305 seats in the 350-member house in Bangladesh. The Awami League party itself has decided to make Chuppu the President. Due to having a majority, it was already considered decided that Chuppu would become the President. At present, Chuppu is a member of the advisory council in his party, but after becoming the President, he will have to resign from this post.

Chuppu, the next President of Bangladesh, received a phone call from the current President Hamid congratulating him for being elected to the post. Along with this, Hamid also wished success to Chuppu in the post of President.
